AUGUST 18 - 22

Vocabulary News

We are using a new curriculum this year. The vocab words are online at www.wordlywise3000.com. Click on the student arrow, find the correct book (10, 11, or 12) and go to the correct lesson for the week. This program will pronounce the new words, define them, and put them in an sample sentence for context. It is possible to download each lesson on to an MP3 player or other device for listening to repeatedly. For my auditory students, it might be a great thing to use. Try it out.

Novel projects

Our novel presentations will begin this Friday, Aug. 22. We will have had over a week to prepare our Powerpoint presentations, so they should be excellent. I have assigned each student a place on the presentation roster. Be ready Friday to present just in case your classmates come unprepared. Remember, if your presentation is late, I will deduct a letter grade from your final score.

Portfolio

All students should have a decorated 1/2" binder with 6 dividers in the portfolio basket by Friday class time.

Please check the homework page for you class this week.

AUGUST 8

Welcome Back To School !!!

Students,
Be sure to bring something to write with and paper on which to jot down notes.
It will be very helpful to write down phone numbers (parent's cell phones, work numbers, emergency numbers) and email addresses (your active email address, your parent's email addresses). Other helpful information to know is insurance info, where parent's work, medical info, doctor's name and phone number, etc.)
There will be an assembly at 8:30 after Homeroom information and attendance has been taken. Be sure and bring some money for a snack at break, locks for your locker, etc. This will only be a half day schedule; therefore, we will get out at 12:00.
I am excited to see everyone again and to meet my new 10th grade class.
Mrs. J.
